Build a Ranger 1000 portal package with the right reduction
This GDP Gen 3 kit adds 6 inches of portal lift to the listed Polaris Ranger 1000 applications. Available 30%, 45% and 60% gear reductions let you choose the gearing around the tire size and type of riding planned for the machine.
Choose the gearing and housing
The 30% reduction places more emphasis on speed, 45% provides an intermediate reduction, and 60% is the largest reduction offered here. Match the choice to the complete tire and riding setup. Dual idlers spread gear load over an additional idler.
The reduction takes place at the hubs to reduce the load carried by upstream drivetrain components. The housings use gaskets or O-rings, a sealed input gear and a double-lipped output seal. Double-angular-contact output bearings and roller idler and drive bearings support the gear set. Steel-alloy backing plates are 5/16 inch thick.
Included components
- Four assembled portal boxes with 9310 gears, seals, output shafts, gaskets or O-rings, and thrust bearings
- Four universal hubs and stainless-steel slotted rotors with lugs
- Four steel-alloy backing plates and four steel caliper mounting plates
- Two steel steering arms
- Extended brake lines and required hardware, including a recessed castle-nut socket
- Frame stiffener only when selected in the product configuration
Tire size and supporting suspension
SuperATV lists these maximum tire sizes for the stated suspension combinations, measured at full compression and full steering turn. Treat the suspension requirements as part of the recommendation, not as optional extras.
- Up to 30-inch tires: stock suspension
- 32- to 33-inch tires: 1.5-inch forward front A-arms
- 34-inch tires: 1.5-inch forward front A-arms with a 3-inch lift kit
- 35- to 38-inch tires: 6-inch lift kit
The supplier notes that larger tires may require trimming or may rub. Check the wheel requirements and model-specific exclusions in the fitment information before ordering.
Before you order
Match the year and model before selecting the housing and idler configuration. Wheel diameter, backspacing, center bore and supporting suspension parts all matter to the completed installation.
