Choose by the original OEM belt number and then by riding style. Racing Series is a separate option from the standard World’s Best Belt. Mud Monster is designed for demanding low-speed use; the supplier warns that it builds heat quickly above 35 MPH. Sand Storm is aimed at high-RPM sand riding. A style offered under one OEM number is not automatically offered under every number, and matching engine size alone is insufficient.
Start with your Defender’s OEM belt number
Match the original belt number before choosing a belt style. Engine size alone is not enough to select a replacement. OEM 422280656 is offered here in Extreme Badass, Sand Storm and World’s Best Belt styles for the supplier-listed 2022-and-newer Defender HD9 and MAX HD9 configurations. Confirm your exact trim and original belt number before ordering.
Choose a belt for the way you ride
- World’s Best Belt is the supplier’s all-around option, combining aramid-cord construction with a compound designed for grip, heat dissipation and smooth engagement.
- Extreme Badass is aimed at demanding low-speed use, including large tires, mud and rocky terrain.
- Sand Storm is intended for sustained high-RPM riding in sand and desert conditions.
The selected style and OEM number identify the belt you will receive. Availability varies by combination; a style shown under one number is not automatically offered under every number. Existing Badass XC choices remain separately labeled.
Check the application before installation
The supplier groups OEM 422280651, 422280652, 417300383 and 422280654 with listed HD8/HD10 applications, and OEM 422280654 and 422280656 with listed HD9 applications. Those groups do not make the numbers universally interchangeable. Match your existing belt, year, engine, trim and clutch setup, and follow the manufacturer’s installation and break-in instructions. Belt life and heat depend on operating conditions and vehicle setup.
